Biography

Hello, my name is Gianni. I was lucky to be born and grow up in the Andes. I believe in Pachamama, Mother Earth. I think we come from it and go back to it. I believe in the Apus, our grandparents the mountains. I believe in offerings — I feel they are important for life.

I'm always interested in resorting to the essence: observing simplicity, looking deep, talking slowly, understanding history, traveling the unknown, breathing with confidence. I am interested in the ancestral consciousness of indigenous peoples, their worldview of life, their respect for the land, for the health of our rivers and seas, for biodiversity.

I fully believe that respect for land and water, as an essential source of life, is something that should be cultivated throughout the world. I try, with my work, to sow that seed.

Experience

Gianni Bulacio was born in Jujuy, Argentina, in 1985.

  • Degree in Photography from the National University of Tucumán, Argentina.
  • Stringer photographer for Associated Press and Reuters.
  • Stringer photographer for UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees).
  • Stringer photographer for UNICEF.
  • Worked five years as photo editor at the newspaper "El Tribuno de Tucumán".
  • Worked two years as a photojournalist at the newspaper "El Periódico de Tucumán".
  • Member of Diversify Photo.
  • Member of Agencia Zur.
  • Member of the Asociación de Reporteros Gráficos de la Argentina (A.R.G.R.A.).
  • Represented by Museo en los Cerros.
  • Summoned to take part in the World Press Photo Masterclass Latin America (2018).
  • Jury of the XXXIX arts hall in Salta province (2019).
  • Jury of the Museo en los Cerros photography contest (2018 and 2021).
